COACHING

Whether you’re a new writer penning your first book or a multi-published author staring down the barrel of a deadline, sometimes you just need a second opinion, a brainstorming partner, or an outside perspective. I bring over a decade of professional writing and critique experience to your projects, as well as a lifetime of reading across all genres, giving me a unique perspective on what makes a story not just good, but great.

Perhaps you’ve got a handle on the writing, but you just can’t seem to get organized enough to let the words flow. My decade of experience in marketing and product management allows me to bring powerful organizational and research tools to the business of writing books as well as marketing those books once they’re finished.

New to the business altogether? Not sure whether to pursue traditional publishing or indie publishing? Not even sure how to start writing your masterpiece? I’m glad to be your guide through the intricacies of publishing and get you started on the right path…without the costly mistakes and false starts.

I offer both monthly packages and hourly rates to best suit your needs and budget. Contact me with the details of your project for a free customized quote.

Coaching FAQs

What does coaching entail?

That is completely dependent on you and your needs! Think of me as your writing and publishing guide—I’ve been doing this for decades, so chances are good that for any sticky problem you’re facing, I’ve been there and developed strategies to overcome it! Some clients might need the accountability of weekly updates to stay on track with their project and choose use their sessions to brainstorm problems they encountered that week. Others might need specific help putting together plots, developing characters, or figuring out their next publishing steps. Still others may need a custom roadmap for writing a book from premise to completion. If you’re not sure exactly what you need, I recommend that you schedule a free 15-minute Zoom consultation and we’ll figure it out together!

Will you teach me how to write?

My coaching clients already have a strong grasp of the written word, even if they haven’t yet completed a full manuscript. If you’ve never written anything but you’ve got the heart of a writer, I can provide you a list of books to start you on your way.

How often and by what method do you meet with clients?

I hold sessions online via Zoom (audio and/or video). Frequency is dependent on your needs and goals: some clients prefer a weekly check-in; others like to schedule a block of time once or twice a month; still others may prefer to book an hour or two as needed. I have limited one-on-one coaching slots available, so I recommend booking your sessions well in advance. I typically have daytime, evening, and weekend availability.

Why do you coach in fewer genres than you edit?

While I’m well-versed in a number of genres, my tools, worksheets, and workflows are customized for specific genres. To be sure that my clients get their money’s worth, I only coach the genres in which I write. However, if you’re looking for general help in character development or specific plot structures, I’m happy to consider other genres as the same rules apply for any type of book.

How much does coaching cost?

Fees vary depending on whether you sign up for a recurring package or choose to pay-as-you-go by the hour. Contact me with your specifics for a customized quote!

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, I do offer discounts for clients who request multiple services, whether it be critique + coaching or content + line editing.
